Swedish Natural History Museum & aMuze Interactive launch English version of ”mission:CLIMATE”

Stockholm — 20 October 2006

The Swedish Museum of Natural History and aMuze! Interactive have launched the English version of their Interactive Climate Card and personal Climate Website.

mission:CLIMATE is a 6,000 square foot exhibit, which examines the causes, effects and possible solutions to climate change and global warming.

The Climate Card, built on the aMuze Interactive Knowledge Card System, enables visitors to the exhibition to continue to explore the content of the exhibit after they have left the museum. Visitors use the Climate Card while at the museum to indicate the parts of the exhibit that interest them.  They can then explore their interests further on-line, back home, at school or the office. By using the Climate Card on site and then on-line, visitors create their own personal mission:CLIMATE web sites. Information in the aMuze Knowledge Card System is structured in levels to accommodate people of different ages and education.

“We are excited about extending the audience reach of this exhibit by offering an English version of the Climate Card. Because the issues around climate change affect everyone, we wanted to share the content of this exhibit with English speaking visitors here in Stockholm as well as with informal learning professionals and educators from other institutions,” said Claes Enger, head of Exhibits at the museum.

The aMuze! Interactive Knowledge Card System (Pat. Pending) has been used by thousands of visitors since the exhibit’s opening. The system is the only one of its kind to enable visitors to personalize their museum experience and take it home with them for further exploration and customization. Its educational benefits are also unique, enabling teachers to plan and follow up on museum visits with specific on-line tasks to be completed upon returning to the classroom. In addition to providing access to the exhibit content in more depth, the Climate Card also includes the powerful 8-minute multi-media video from the exhibit, “Eye of the Storm”.

The Climate Card and Knowledge Card System were entirely funded by sponsors including the Folksam Insurance company and Sun MicroSystems.  Major funding for the exhibit was also provided by the energy company, E-on and by SL, the Stockholm Municipal
